The 'Reading Lunchtime Choir' began as a class run by the tenor, Chris Skidmore, for the Continuing Education Department of Reading University. When the department shut in 2009 the choir moved to Park United Reformed Church and since then has been run by a committee of choir members and funded by subscription. Chris Skidmore retired in 2012, and the new director is local singer and teacher, Amber Nunn.
Amber Nunn received her early musical training in the Berkshire Girls' Choir and the choir of Earley St Peter’s. She took up a place to read music at King's College London in 2008 as a trumpeter and took performance classes at the Royal Academy of Music. While at King's she continued her attention to singing and studied with Berty Rice. She took up a choral scholarship with the renowned choir of King's College London and she has performed in several prestigious venues in Britain, as well as in France, Russia and Italy. Amber has participated on a number of recordings, including Hyperion’s new release of Britten’s St Nicolas with Stephen Layton and the Holst Singers. Recent engagements include singing for the professional octet at St Columba’s Knightsbridge, with her vocal quartet The Hodie Singers and as soprano soloist for the Kingston-based Riverside Opera. She currently studies singing with Samuel Evans and teaches at Shiplake College, Reading School, Elstree Prep School and Reading Minster.
